How do I use SIGHT in Austria as a Guest?
If you are planning a vacation in Austria, you have the opportunity to stay with hosting Mensa members. As a rule this is cost-free, but that is the decision of the individual host. Beyond that it is also interesting to come in contact with Mensa members who are glad to show you their city and the sights, or to take part in a regular or ad hoc Mensa Meeting. You can write the SIGHT Coordinator by e-mail or snail mail, but the best is to fill out this guest form and send it to SIGHT@mensa.at . Please be as detailed as possible about where you want to travel, what your time frame is and what a host should know about yourself and any travelling companions: like age, whether you smoke, if there are any special issues (allergies, diet, vegetarianism). It is recommended that you include your membership number in your first contact with the SIGHT coordinator and carry your most current membership card with you on your travels. More information is available on the Mensa International Website by clicking on the Buttons "Guidelines" und "FAQ".What should I consider as a Guest?
Basically the rules of courtesy pertain, just as they do when you are anywhere else as a guest. Even though SIGHT hosts usually offer their hospitality for free, you can show your appreciation with a small gift, an invitation to a meal or something like that.
A longer description of the rules of SIGHT etiquette for both Guests and Hosts is available on the Mensa International website in the "Members Area" under "Guidelines".
